Why do people snore?
Snoring people is a common complaint heard among families, room- mates and people who holiday together. People who have partners who snore are often heard asking the question why do people snore while sleeping? Well the answer is quite simple. The snorer has narrow airways and when the tissue at the back of your throat vibrates, it results in a snore. It is not an incurable condition and with the right treatment one can reduce or stop the habit completely. A lot of external devices are available in the market that will prevent snores and let you and your partner, get a good night’s sleep.
Obesity, colds, nasal polyps, deviated septum, etc are some of the reasons that cause people to snore. The septum is the wall that separates your left nostril from your right one and a deviated septum will require a surgery to get fixed. Nasal polyps are growths that can affect the air entering your airway. Having a long soft palate and a long uvula can also be one of the reasons for it. To find out what is causing you to snore, a doctor’s opinions would be the best choice. If you are overweight, before you try other treatments you could see if losing weight will cure you.

For the question why do people snore, airway obstruction is the answer. Weigh loss will help overweight people reduce the habit but for the others, the answer is not so simple. It can also be an indicator of a more serious condition like sleep apnea and children who snore should always be shown to a doctor. Smoking and drinking can inflame your sinuses resulting in snores. Sleeping on your back can also keep your airways open and prevent anything from blocking your passages hence your snores will stop.
